New lightweight MEMS accelerometers for vibration and motion measurements

By: PRLog
IRVINE, Calif. - Dec. 15, 2017 - PRLog -- Meggitt Sensing Systems, a division of Meggitt PLC, has released the new lightweight 770A and 770F accelerometers for measurement of motion, tilt or low frequency vibration. Using variable capacitance technology, these sensors provide repeatable and reliable readings at an economical price. Potential applications include motor sports, high speed rail and automotive ride quality.

These miniature sensors only weigh 6 grams so can be employed with space-constrained and low mass test objects. They offer a frequency response from DC up to 1,500 Hz and a single-ended output. For maximum compatibility with existing instrumentation there are two power input options - the "U" option for 7 to 36 Vdc or the "R" option for a regulated 5 Vdc excitation.

Other key features include:

• 2, 10, 30, 50, 100 and 200 g ranges
• Adhesive (770A) or screw mounted (770F)
• 0.6 inch (15 mm) cube
• 10,000g shock survivability
• -40 to +100 ͦ C operating temperature range

The 770A-770F has excellent non-linearity and hysteresis of ±0.5% and transverse sensitivity of 3%. Materials of construction are RoHS compliant and each unit is shipped with its own calibration certificate.
