While the words sound foolish, the actions behind them were devastating. Infidelity is rampant in the US, with recent statistics bearing out that cheating is part of over 1/3rd of marriages in our country, with 22% of men and 14% of women admitting their infidelity. In 2014, a study conducted by the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center found that only 22 percent of U.S. women surveyed, compared to 38 percent of men, could answer three simple finance-related questions correctly. (2). This back-seat approach to financial literacy makes separation and divorce even more traumatic for many women.
