Las Vegas, NV – When King Umoren began his career working as a Financial Controller he didn’t anticipate that he would someday aspire to be the next Jackson Hewitt. He was just trying to provide the best possible support to the companies he worked for and position himself for advancement. As he repeatedly excelled at those financial tasks given to him, he began to dream of owning his own company and working for himself. In 2012, King founded Arya Capital LLC, followed by Universal Tax Services as an accounting firm that would serve the bookkeeping, accounting, and tax preparation needs of individuals and businesses. What began as a dream of American business ownership by the son of an ambitious Nigerian immigrant has developed into a multi-state powerhouse that he believes can serve as an example and roadmap for other tax professionals.
“I used to define success by my income,” says King. “You work hard, you take chances, you spread your wings and when it all hits and you have the big payout you feel like you finally made it. Success! But then you think to yourself, what’s next? For me, what’s next is helping others achieve what I have.”
After a few years of successful ownership of the tax preparation business, King sold it for several million dollars to work with tax preparers themselves. Today, King works with tax preparers all over the country, helping them to develop their own tax preparation business. He identified three main reasons why tax preparers don’t start their own business, one of which is the lack of funds. Taking his cue from “Shark Tank”, King decided to invest his own money in tax preparation businesses.
His subsidiary, Tax Business Formula, invests in tax preparers across the US, helping them to develop their own tax companies. In order to better assist tax professionals, in 2015 King launched his own tax preparation software that will not only streamline the tax preparation process but decrease the expenses of tax professionals.
His training programs and tax preparation software provides everything someone needs to open and maintain a successful tax preparation business. Over the next few years, he wants to continue to build his brand and help mentor others who dream of being their own boss.
“I offer them the ability to go from being a twelve-dollar an hour employee of someone else to earning six figures yearly,” says King. “If I can do it, they can do it—especially when I paved the way. They get the software, a formula, and my assistance. I’m hoping that I will be able to grow a new generation of entrepreneurs who take my model and raise it to a new level.”
