Rev. Cathie Capp will be introduced as the new Senior Minister of University United Methodist Church, Irvine, at a welcoming service on July 8th, followed by a meet-and-greet barbecue celebration. Members of the church and community are invited.

IRVINE, CA, June 26, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- University United Methodist Church of Irvine (UUMC) announces the installation of its new Senior Minister, Rev. Cathie Capp, who will be welcomed by the congregation at a special worship service on Sunday, July 8th at 9:30 a.m.

Following the service, attendees can mingle with Pastor Cathie at a Texas Style Barbecue. All church members and neighbors are invited to share in this day of joy as UUMC embarks on a new course under the leadership of Rev. Cathie.

"In addition to her outstanding credentials and a life devoted to serving others," said a church spokesperson, "Pastor Cathie is the real deal: warm, enthusiastic, genuinely kind and inclusive. We're very excited God has called her to UUMC: to lead us in building our ministry, reinforcing Jesus' teachings and love for humanity, and meeting the spiritual needs of our community."

Pastor Cathie, a native Southern Californian who earned her Masters Degree in Social Work, began her career working with at-risk youth in the Los Angeles foster care and probation systems. It was a tenure that lasted 14 years which she considers as her secular ministry.

Yet, as a lifelong Methodist who believed she had more to give, she attained her Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Christian Education degrees at Princeton Theological Seminary. During that time, she served the Princeton United Methodist Church as Director of Christian Education, and upon graduating, as Pastor of Congregational Care at Chambers United Methodist Church in Trenton, NJ.

Returning to Southern California, Rev. Cathie served the last four years as Lead Pastor at Ojai Methodist Church where she also led the Preschool Chapel Services, Disciple Bible Study and Prayers Services, and performed in the choral and hand-bell choirs.

Those wishing to attend the July 8th celebration are requested to RSVP at 949-786-8354.
