Bier's baby snatching drama follows Detective Andreas (Coster-Waldau) and his drunken partner Simon (Ulrich Thomsen), who are alerted of a domestic disturbance at young junkies’ apartment where they discover a baby boy, covered in his own excrement. But when Andreas’ son of the same age suddenly passes and his wife falls into a dark depression, his life begins to unravel into one of ethical disarray and blurred morals, conflicted between right vs. wrong. Rooted in the foundations of love and parenthood, Bier’s direction invokes a strong and empowering female voice with open eyes to reflect our dark world. ‘A 2nd CHANCE’ first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2014 before its Denmark release in 2015.
